In June of 2024, at the direction of Mayor Weddle, the Public Works Department conducted inspections of city bridges, which led to a state inspection of a structure deemed in urgent need of repair. The state inspection confirmed the city’s findings. Following this, emergency road aid was applied for, which was successfully secured in September of 2024. The project, which involved complex design considerations to maintain existing stream and road dimensions, was completed efficiently. The structure replacement was executed in eight work days, considerably ahead of the projected schedule. Enhancements to improve pedestrian access and the area’s aesthetic are also being added. The bridge is anticipated to open to traffic in the coming days, with final paving to commence as soon as asphalt plants begin operation. Thank you, Public Works team, Mayor Weddle, and state partners in the timely completion of this project!
A Special City Council Meeting has been scheduled for next week. Details may be found in the agenda linked below. Agenda Date: March 10, 2025 Time: 5:30 p.m. Location: London Community Center

London, KY (February 27, 2025): The City of London, Kentucky, is excited to announce the adoption of a new city seal, marking a significant step in the city’s ongoing efforts to refresh its visual identity and better reflect its unique character and heritage. The new seal, developed in collaboration with the Kentucky League of Cities, incorporates meaningful symbolism that captures the essence of London’s identity: Redbud Tree: A symbol of Kentucky’s natural heritage and renewal, representing the city’s commitment to growth and revitalization. Building Icon: Inspired by City Hall and McHargue’s Mill, signifying London’s rich history and its role as a place to call home. Hill Design: Representing the surrounding Appalachian foothills that define the area’s geography and natural beauty. The new seal replaces the previous seal, which will be retired for ceremonial use only upon request. The transition to the new seal will be completed by December 31, 2025, across all city departments and agencies. “We are thrilled to introduce this new symbol of our city,” said Mayor Randall Weddle. “The new seal beautifully captures London’s unique spirit and heritage, and we believe it will serve as a strong representation of our community for years to come.” The new seal is accompanied by comprehensive branding guidelines to ensure its consistent and professional use across all platforms. The City’s Public Relations Office will be coordinating with relevant departments to inform the public and stakeholders about the new seal and its meaning.
