Over 20 citizens donated blood to the Kentucky Blood Center on Tuesday, Aug. 4th from 1-5pm at the London Fire Department. Together, the Fire Dept. and the London Police Department provided the City Safety Day to host a community blood drive and child safety seat checks.
“Even during COVID-19 we are still here for the community, providing services and looking out for their safety,” said PIO Magen Zawko with the London Police Department.
For citizens who missed the event and still wish to donate blood to help save lives, the Kentucky Blood Center advised checking their website kybloodcenter.org to find a blood drive nearby.
For those need a child’s safety seat checked, the London Police and Fire Departments have technicians on-hand daily. To schedule an appointment for a seat check, call (606) 878-7004 or (606) 864-2922. For more information about car seats, visit NHTSA.GOV.
Kentucky’s Child Safety Seat Law:
Children 40 inches or less must be properly restrained in a federally approved safety seat. Children younger than seven and between 40 and 50 inches must be properly secured in a booster seat.
The City of London hopes to provide more City Safety Days in the future to further encourage local citizens to connect with the free services offered to them.
