Another milestone was reached this week in the ongoing development of Whitley Branch Veterans Park.
With the installation of several bridges and pavement of the last sections of the walking track, the park now has 2.25 miles of track for walkers and runners to enjoy.
Next up in the development of Whitley Branch is the construction of 40 additional parking spaces and a pickleball court on the lot next to Southeast Farm Supply on Dixie Street.
A new perimeter fence will be installed when those projects are completed.
London Parks and Recreation Director Mackey Williams said the expansion of Whitley Branch was necessary due to the overwhelming popularity and use of the park.
He also noted that the latest project came in about $40,000 under budget.
